March Update

It has been a cold February here in Pennsylvania.  I am very glad to be working our way towards springtime and flowers!

"Little Bunny in Field of Poppies~Pincushion Set" This is sold ~ thank you!!

 Red poppies are a nice hiding place for a little bunny.  

 This pincushion top is made from early and vintage bits and pieces.  It is backed by an aged muslin.  I really love sewing these little paintings of cloth! Lots of hand stitching.  Measures 8" x 6".

 Little bunny can stand on his own.  He has a stitched face with beaded eyes, and a needle-felted wool tail.  He is holding a "poppy flower" pin that he just picked. Bunny is 4" tall to the tip of his ears.  All pins are vintage too!

 This is my design and one of a kind.

"March Hares" ~ They are sold ~ thank you!

I am just so happy with these girls.  They are all wearing dresses with vintage buttons and a hand knitted scarf or shawl.

Beaded eyes, stitched noses, and flax whiskers.  They have calico-lined ears for a bit of whimsy.  

Stitched in a seated position ~ 8" tall to the top of their head.

This is Anne

 She is dressed in greens that remind me of the garden with an old calico button.  Her hand knitted scarf is gray.

Her ears are lined in green polka dot calico.

This is Muriel

 She is dressed in a bluish homespun with a bit of cream and rust running through it.  Her hand knitted shawl is gray and has an old mother of pearl button closure.

 Her ears are lined in a blue print calico.

 She is dressed in a brown calico with hints of wheat and blue.  She has two old pearly shoe buttons on her dress.  Her hand knitted scarf is a natural creamy color.

 Her ears are lined in a brown printed calico.

Little Pumpkin Mouse Cottage ~ SOLD Thank you!

This little mouse cottage is a new version for this year.  I really really love the way it turned out....I decorate with lots of browns and whites, so this one is very dear to my heart!

 Made from various wools, osnaburg, and an old shoe button door knob.

Little mouse has stitched eyes & flax whiskers.  She is wearing a little wool shaw to keep the chill off her shoulders.

Beside the door of her white pumpkin cottage she has a few little wool pumpkins herself.

Mouse is attached to the pumpkin and total piece is 8 1/2" tall.

I really enjoy making these every year.  You will never see the same one twice!

This one is a bluish gray pumpkin.  Made with various materials....homespun, osnaburg and wool, and an old shoe button doorknob.

Lots of handstitching and details.  This one has a black cat sitting in the window; a bittersweet vine growing up the side; and a few wool pumpkins next to the front door.

It has a worn feel a wonderful aged look.

Even prettier in person.  I want to live in one of these I think!

It is 8" tall including the stem.

Happy October!  I can't even believe it's here.  This month I have a few pumpkiny offerings for you! 

This little owl is perched on top of Jack O'Lantern.

Made from various materials....old wool, old buttons, osnaburg, weavers cloth, flax, and twine. 

They are sewn together for a total height of 14" tall and 8" wide.

Base of pumpkin is slightly weighted for better stability.

The first doll is a standing doll. She has a gusseted weighted bottom. She is 11" tall from the top of her twig stem.

Dressed in a very primitive brown flannel dress with a wool shawl drapped around her shoulders to keep the chill off while she collects her bounty.

Primitive Jack O'Lantern and Mouse

"I'm king of the world!" says little mouse, sitting on top of Jack.

That's what I imagined him saying anyway :)

Jack has hand-stitched features made from an old feed sack and a shaped and filled brown wool nose.

He is filled with rags and fill and sits very nicely.

Attached on top is little mouse looking down.  Made from osnaburg, with stitched eyes, flax whiskers, and a hemp tail.

This piece measures 10" tall and 5 1/2" wide.

Spring Rabbit is dressed in antique reproduction green calico with an old button and a dark brownish-green apron. She is 19" tall.

Her sweet face is hand-stitched. She has flax whiskers and tan homespun lined ears. All aged to perfection.

Tucked in her arms is a little basket filled with roving.

My first rabbit doll and I am so pleased with how she turned out!!

Little Calico-Eared Bunny Tucked Inside an Antique Button Up Baby Shoe ~ SOLD~

She has a stitched face, flax whiskers, ears lined with tan calico and a needle felted sheeps wool tail.  She can be removed from her little nest of flax.  She is gusseted and weighted slightly so that she may stand on her own.

Little bunny carries a strawberry made from an old wool blanket that I found inside an early quilt.  (A great find!)  The strawberry cap is made from tan and green calico.

Total piece is 6 1/4" tall.  Rabbit by herself is just over 5" tall.
