When I made this Santa I visualized him sitting tucked into a cupboard with Christmas greens and berries and other wild stuff. He was a delight to make.
Primitive Santa has stitched eyes, a needle sculpted nose and applied eyebrows and beard made from sheep's wool.
He is made from nubby osnaburg that is heavily distressed and oh so primitive. His hat and body have been painted a slightly brownish barn red that has been grubbied up and still has bits of spices on him. (I think if you click on the photos you can see this.) His brown wool scarf is a scrap from an old Amish buggy blanket.
Stuffed with rags to make him lumpy and heavy, he is able to sit on his own without leaning. Santa is just over 10" tall (to the tip of his hat) and exactly 5" wide.
